GLORY, IN THE EYES OF A YOUNG GIRL, A YOUNG GIRL. FIND

» Okay, so maybe the text was a little bit delayed. Technically, Jaeda was ungrounded the day before yesterday. But the day she got ungrounded, she went to the beach with Mitch, and yesterday she got dragged into going school-clothes-shopping with her family, so really it was her first opportunity to tell Rissa that she was, in fact, no longer bound to her room. It wasn't all that great, though. It wasn't like she had a lot to do. In a way, she didn't expect Rissa to want to do much. Jaeda figured Rissa's baby was coming pretty soon, so she must be tired, or at least wanting to lay down a lot, but it was worth a shot. She was glad Rissa actually wanted to do something, and excited herself to have something to do. Starbucks seemed like a good idea, because Jaeda loved coffee, and it wouldn't be too physically taxing on Rissa. Besides, Jaeda wasn't feeling too well herself. For some reason, she was just... blah, the last couple days. She was just tired, mostly, and a little off-balance at times. She figured she must be developing a head cold or something- leave it up to Jaeda to get a cold in the summer time, right? She made a mental note not to breathe on or near Rissa, as she didn't want to get Rissa or the baby sick.
» She was so excited that, in the middle of answering Rissa's last text, Jaeda shut her phone, and so the text didn't actually send, but rather got saved as a draft. She would feel dumb later, for sure. Anyway, she grabbed her drawstring, striped bag, stuffing random crap she could possibly need later on into it, and hoisted it onto her back before slipping on her flip-flops and grabbing the keys to her black Jeep Cherokee. She announced to her mother, who was eating lunch, that she was going out, and bounded out the door before the older woman could protest or give Jaeda special instructions. That happened often, Jaeda's mother nagging her about her eating habits. Jaeda never seemed to eat enough to satisfy her mother, though she was certainly not anorexic. She just didn't really have much of an appetite. She usually ate just enough to have enough energy to do stuff. Maybe that's why she was so tired the last couple days- she'd been less hungry than usual, and as a result ate less. She made a mental note to get a very big coffee from Starbucks, for the energy value. Yawning slightly, she slid into the driver's seat in her Jeep and quickly backed out of the driveway. Luckily, the drive to Starbucks was uneventful- Jaeda did not crash, despite her lack of driving skills, and managed not to get pulled over for speeding, despite doing 20 over the whole way. Ah, the perks of being the Police Chief's kid, right?
» She pulled into the parking lot at Starbucks and made it haphazardly into a parking spot. She wasn't good at any area of driving, but parking was the worst. Half the time, she was at a 45-degree angle if the spot was meant to be straight. As she slid out of the jeep, she looked down and noticed that she was, for all intents and purposes, taking up three spaces- the one in which she meant to park, and then because of the angle, her front end was in the space to the left, and to the right was the back end of the Jeep. Jaeda simple shrugged and walked into the Starbucks. Sure, she could try to back out and correct her parking, but it would probably end up being just as bad, if not worse. She decided to leave well enough alone. Rolling her eyes at the horrid parking, she stepped into line behind the other Starbucks customers, patiently awaiting her turn. She didn't expect Rissa to be here as quickly as she had herself, simply because Rissa had a baby in tow. Jaeda eventually got up to the counter, ordered, and then was given her mocha frappuchino. Mmmm... Then she found her way to a booth by the front window, with a clear view of her Jeep. Even though it was locked, she was still paranoid that someone was going to break into it and steal it, even though it was in a public place in the middle of the day. It wouldn't be that hard to get a new one, but she liked this Jeep. It even had a name. ...whatever. To pass the time until Rissa arrived, Jaeda started playing Oregon Trail on her phone.
