It’s been two weeks since she last saw him. Two weeks, three days, six hours, seven minutes, four seconds… five… six… seven… eight. Two weeks, three days, six hours, seven minutes and nine seconds since she last looked in to those hazel eyes. Two weeks, three days, six hours, seven minutes and eleven seconds since she heard that soft voice of his in person. Two weeks, three days, six hours, seven minutes and fifteen seconds since she last saw that intoxicating smile of his. And it felt like eternity since she last felt his lips against hers and his soft touch on her hips and hands. Sure, Jennifer wasn’t dating him. But she sure as hell wished she was. She wished she could just spend every day with him, but college and work was taking a toll on her and college really seemed to be keeping him from visiting her. Her dance teacher was pushing Jennifer to the limits, making her jump high and practice lifts with weak freshmen that would barely lift a pen, and yet he expected them to be able to pick Jennifer up. She had twisted her ankle because one of them, but she continued dancing until it got better. Her elbows, knees and other parts of her body had been bruised because of the freshmen dropping her so much. She finally had had enough of it yesterday, and just thanked them all and let them leave her alone for a while. She was beginning to lose hope of ever finding a partner.
There was one guy she had in mind, and he attended the college too. The only problem was, well, was that he just didn’t let on that he had any dancing experience at all. Jeni was top of her class, and even if the guy did dance, he wouldn’t have the experience she did and so the teacher would never approve. Now, who was this guy? Shane, Shane Grey. The same guy that Jeni hadn’t seen in person in about two and a half weeks and talked on the phone with until hours were well past over. Yeah, Shane. The same guy that had defended Jennifer and kissed her and everything. She was intoxicated by him, and he was causing her thoughts to be jumbled and her speech messed up and confusing. She hadn’t been able to even focus completely on her routine without him invading her thoughts and leaving her completely frazzled and not sure what to do. It was beginning to frustrate her dance teacher too. He wanted Jeni to be top of the class until she graduated; he wanted her to succeed, but this guy. He was getting in Jennifer’s head and messing with her thoughts, causing her to forget parts of her routine and the teacher was getting frustrated. It was why he told Jennifer she need not have a boyfriend right now, because it would completely mess up what she had learned from dancing. She just couldn’t seem to get her head on straight.
She looked at her teacher that had called her in to his office, and she bit down on her lip. Jeni, we need to talk. her teacher said in a rough and agitated voice. She nodded her head, standing in front of his desk and putting her hands together. Jennifer, you need to get your head on straight. This guy – you just don’t have time for a relationship right now Jeni. I want you to succeed, I want you to remain top of your class until graduation. But you can’t do that if you have some guy on you’re mind and interrupting your life. he told her, looking up at her and waiting for her response. Jennifer told there, wearing a pink tank top and a loose shirt that came down mid thigh. He’s not a distraction. It’s just – it’s my fault. I haven’t been thinking and I haven’t been focusing on my routine. It’s not him. she told him, and he let out a sigh. Jennifer, we have discussed this. You don’t have time for a relationship right now. Especially with some guy you just met. he said. Her jaw dropped slightly, holding her hands out to the side. He’s not some guy I just met! We’re friends! I can have a relationship with someone and still dance, Jason! she said to him, obviously upset. Jason’s brow furrowed, and he stood up, putting his hands firmly on the table. Jennifer, you heard me. I don’t want you seeing this guy. he said to her.
Jennifer frowned, shaking her head. I can see him all I want! she said. He growled at her lightly, narrowing his eyes. Jennifer, listen to what you are saying! Do you want to give up all you have worked toward for some guy that you just met? he said, and Jennifer crossed her arms. He’s not a problem. she growled. Jason shook his head, looking at her. Obviously he is, because you didn’t start having such an attitude and disagreeing with me about everything until he came along. You never missed a beat or messed up either until he came along. If you continue to see him, he’s going to fuck up you’re life. I don’t want you talking to him. he growled. Jennifer leaned over, putting her knuckles down on his desk and leaning close to his face. Watch me. she growled, and with that turned around and slammed the door shut.
Her teacher was being such a dick, and it was beginning to piss Jennifer off. She grabbed her bag as she walked out in slung it over her shoulders, shaking her head and walking toward the dance studio. She heard music coming from it, and her eyebrows scrunched together as she peered through the window in the door, and a look of pure shock crossed over her face. It was Shane, and he was dancing. She hesitated a moment before quietly pushing one door open, closing it quietly and setting her purse down. She turned her phone to vibrate, then walked quietly over to him. She stood there for a second before smiling, waiting for him to turn around and see her. Finally, she figured she might as well speak and not just scare him like that. Since when did you dance, huh? she asked over the loud music, crossing her arms over her chest with a smirk. She wasn’t exactly surprised, since most guys danced but didn’t tell, but she was just shocked with how good he was at it.
