character history - - - [/blockquote] [/blockquote]Ryan was born on August 2nd to a newly wed couple, Darryl and MaryAnne. His sister, Allison, was born four years later, something that Ryan got to witness. Though many four year old boys would find the whole process disgusting, Ryan always thought it beautiful and fascinating at the same time. However, he never got to witness it again -- MaryAnne was incapable of having any more children after Allison.
Ryan had always been extremely overprotective of his little sister. Whenever she would do something wrong, Ryan would step forward and say that he had been the one that had done it and shoulder the blame for her. This made his parents aggravated with him, merely because they thought he was something of a bad egg. The thought of this made Ryan slowly sink into himself, and by the time Allison was old enough to start school, Ryan was a completely irreversible introvert.
When Ryan started the first grade, he met who was first to become his best friend, and later on the object of his affections, Keith Richardson. From the start, the two were inseparable, and anything Ryan couldn't bear tell Allison, he would tell Keith. They became extremely close, and by the sixth grade, Ryan and Keith were almost like Siamese twins.
By the sixth grade, Ryan was also beginning to feel things that he thought he shouldn't feel. While some of his friends were starting to crush on other girls in their grade, Ryan...wasn't. Rather, he was feeling more and more attraction to other men.
He said nothing about his sexuality to anyone for a very long time, but when Allison finally figured it out on her own, she told him that he needed to tell their parents. When Ryan was starting out his senior year, he did. Rather than take it well, as both of them thought they would, they were infuriated and kicked him out of the house and made him move in with his uncle in Illinois. Allison stayed at home with Darryl and MaryAnne, but she loathed every moment of it. She and Ryan kept in contact through letters.

&& He honestly being the way he was; shy, timid, always blaming himself for everything ... it was the way Ryan Mitchell was, he supposed, and that was what made the few friends he had actually enjoy his company, but still. He would much rather be outgoing, overly friendly ... at least let him lose his stutter for God's sake. He couldn't even say "hello" without it taking about thirty goddamned seconds. Blushing at anything and everything, it was enough to drive even the most patient person on Earth completely insane. Ryan had always wanted to change himself, make himself a bit more outgoing -- he had the looks for it, at least. Crazy, raven hair and eye makeup screaming "look at me!" wasn't enough to allow him to get over his shy streak, though. He was a walking contradiction. He barely even wanted the attention he got most of the time, and yet he still got up every morning and put on the same outrageous outfits.
&& Argent eyes ran over the pier quickly, analyzing every person that walked by. It wasn't as if his quickness to judge was a fault of his -- in fact, it had probably saved him quite a lot of grief in the past than what he'd want to go through. Guys with skateboards he knew from experience to stay far the heck away from. Clean cut girls with briefcases never had time to talk. Not that Ryan would ever initiate a conversation. He was much more comfortable in the sidelines, watching. That was why he was a photographer for the band Mixtape Massacre -- he didn't need fame, he just needed to know that he was doing something with his life.
&& It was getting darker outside -- Ryan hated being out so late, but after a concert, there was no way to avoid the darkness. Argent gaze moved back and forth around the pier once more before he finally decided to retire on a bench near a creepy looking alleyway. He sat down carefully, his camera in his hand. Nobody else was really around at this point. He looked ahead, wondering why the entire place was so dark looking. It wasn't even fully night yet and already the alley was shaded with black and a sense of doom. He watched as an elderly woman passed by him. Her eye seemed to be magneted to his frame. He didn't blame her, of course -- most people gave him that look as they walked by. He looked away shyly, feeling his face grow hot as he hid behind his bangs.
&& The sudden sound of muffled sobs shifted him from focusing on his embarassment to wherever the noise was coming from. He frowned immediately and stood up, keeping his hands firm on his camera as he walked towards the dark alleyway. He peeked his head in and saw a blond girl curled up in a ball in the middle. He frowned and walked over to her. Normally, he wouldn't be one to initiate a conversation, but this was an exception. "H-hey, a-a-are you oka-okay -- ?" he asked tentatively.
