The planet was moving so slowly and time was crawling along even further behind. The past was still haunting a recent arrival to Miami and she was unable to escape it. Ainsley was desperately trying to forget her mother’s murder. Each day when she was awake she wanted to be asleep, but when she slept she wanted to be awake. She couldn’t find a healthy balance in her life and she was hanging on by a thread. Her summer had been a slow and constant blur, nothing stood out and everything was routine. Good thing she had somehow managed to mingle ever so little because it had brought her an invitation to some huge end of summer party. That’s precisely what the brunette needed. She needed to get out, meet new people, have a few drinks, and just completely let loose. Ainsley couldn’t even remember the last time she had been able to relax. Tonight she was determined to smile again, she was going to laugh. And for once she was going to forget about her mother and just move on, even if it was only for a few hours. But who knew, maybe this would all the beginning of something bigger than that. Maybe tonight would change the course of her life for the better, just maybe. But she couldn’t exactly get ahead of herself. First she needed to get herself ready and out of the door, but that process was nearly done. Ainsley had contemplated straightening her hair, but had left it in it’s natural wavy state. The humidity and wind would’ve messed it up anyway. As for her clothing, she has surprisingly picked out a short, white party dress, the back laced corset style with black lace that also wrapped around the waist. She hadn’t actually ‘dressed up’ for anything in awhile, so she was quite excited to wear the dress out.
As soon as she thought herself presentable, the slender brunette left the comforting confinements of her apartment and headed towards her car. She spun the keys around her fingers nervously, the other hand clutching her small purse. She bit angrily on her bottom lip, scolding herself for being nervous. What was there to be nervous about? It was likely that nobody would even notice she was there, let alone recognize her. So she could slip around and do whatever she wanted, practically. By the time she reached her car in the parking lot she had ample time to settle and slid into the driver’s seat with ease. Quickly she brought the engine to life and aimed the car in the direction of the party. She had a fairly good idea of where she was going, but she wouldn’t be shocked if she somehow managed to get lost. After following the directions quite religiously, Ainsley let out a small laugh as she parked close along the beach. The drive was far too easy. Killing the engine’s roar she ran a hand through her wavy locks before hesitantly opening the car door and sliding out. Her warm, brown eyes anchored to the gathering of people down along the sand. She slammed her door shut, ensuring she locked it. Already there was a good amount of people, but she knew it would only get bigger. Her lungs swelled as she inhaled deeply, setting one foot in front of her, the other quickly following.
The sound of music, laughter, and the roar of waves collided within the air and struck Ainsley’s eardrums with force. Smiling faces and drinks were in great abundance as was food. Somebody had certainly done a lot of planning for the event. As she reached the outskirts of the crowd she was still unable to locate any familiar faces. She needed that slightly knowledge of one other person to grasp onto, but alas she was out of luck. Snaking her way between people she found the open bar and eagerly went to order a drink. Good thing nobody here was willing to card her, she got away with that often. Leaning forward she gave her order to the bartender and within a few anticipatory moments, the beverage was handed to her. She smiled in thanking before wrapping her fingers around the drink and bringing it to her lips. She wasn’t looking to get drunk, but a little alcohol would ease her nerves. Even now she could feel her heart beating like a drum and her breathing was a tad shaky. She hadn’t been to a social event like this in quite some time. So it was like she was starting over.
It had never be like Ainsley to be the quiet girl in a crowd, she was always one who stood out. She didn’t even remember how she had sunk into being the girl stuck in the corner. It wasn’t like her. Maybe it was her mother’s death, but that was four years ago, it shouldn’t still be doing this to her. Maybe it was absent father who had abandon her and her twin brothers right after their mother’s murder. No, after he had done that she had just learned to not trust men. After all, everybody she ended up loving ended up leaving her. But even still, why didn’t she laugh anymore? She wanted this to change, she needed this change. She wanted that flame to be rekindled and she wanted to be able to look out at the world and not be afraid anymore. Ainsley didn’t have a clue what the cure to her ailment would be, but she needed it and fast. Life was passing her by and she couldn’t do a thing to stop it.

to the girl, who didn’t look much older than him. To him she looked like one of those random people you just meet in the street, meaning Aaron had never seen her before in his entire life. Grinning he moved away slowly and walked around the beach for a while. Taking his large strides Aaron turned his head round to see the blonde again. Her green eyes were placed on him like hawk, it was pretty freaky but he didn’t mind at all. Laughing at her the young boy stopped to sit down for a bit. Today had been a pretty hectic day for Aaron, busy and well a bit too busy. The bar where he worked was always full, but today it was like everyone in Miami had been shoved inside. Not true, but that’s what it seemed like. His eyes searched around the empty beach – empty from where he sat. Everyone else was at the other side of the beach; you could say that Aaron just wanted some piece and quiet right now. His head was still banging from the loud music in the club. Aaron had worked double his shift today, and that was pretty rare of him. Lazy was what he was, and working was one thing that he hated to do most of the time. Sure, it wasn’t that bad he got a chance to meet people and have a social life, how many people can actually say they have a social life? Not many that’s the answer to that, so he thought anyway. Aaron hadn’t always been so social and open with people when he was younger. A quiet preserved boy was him, but that was just when he had started school. It soon changed as he got into high school, popular and just plain amazing was what he was – no to brag or anything. A cold shiver went down the boy’s spine as he sat there, when really it wasn’t even that cold here. Hugging himself faintly Aaron stared down at the sand and started to scoop it up into his rather large hands. This would be his favourite destination when he was a kid; Aaron’s mum would always take him to the beach. Though now it’s always just him, and no one else. Aaron’s attention was turned to another girl who was walking by him, her light hair flowing down her back. While he stared at her, she looked so familiar to him. One name popped up inside his head; Ashlee. The reaction would have been expected if anyone knew his reason for looking away. It was hard for Aaron to see girls who were like Ashlee. Of course it had been a few years since she died, but there will always be a time whenever he would think about her. Not in a crazy psycho way. Ashlee had been the only person that this guy here had ever loved. Blaming himself for her death was the stupidest thing for him to do. When clearly it wasn’t like he forced the drugs into her mouth. Ashlee had been a drug addict even before Aaron had met her. Now how could that been his fault? It couldn’t have. Although, he still found a way to pin it on him. Rising from the spot he had been sitting on for a while, Aaron headed towards the bar. A drink was what he needed, and a drink was what he would get. Stopping abruptly at the bar Aaron ordered for some vodka. It was pretty weird to be asking for the drinks, when it would usually be him at the other side serving people. It felt good though, just to have some fun. Nodding at the guy behind the bar Aaron turned to look at his side. He didn’t even notice the hot girl next to him. His lips curled into a smile as he took in her full figure. She was even better than the blonde he saw before. Not fake at all, well at least this girl here didn’t look plastic to him. From what he could tell she looked pretty new, Aaron had never noticed her around before. Either she was one of those really quiet girls that kept to themselves, or she was just new. There could have been a lot of reasons, but it was unlikely that Aaron was going to stand here and think about them. His baby blue eyes looked down at her eyes, trying to see if he could get some eye contact. The first thing Aaron always liked to see was a girl’s eye. ”Hi…names Aaron nice to meet you” he heard himself say, as he froze for a second. All that was going through his head right now was how stupid he sounded. I should have just shut up after hi, what if she doesn’t want to talk to me! Aaron argued in his head, as he tried to give her a smile. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/ul] [/ul] WORD COUNT: nine four seven. STATUS: done. A few people held steady glares in the brunette’s direction as she settled nearby the bar. A couple girls did the typical ‘once over’, scrutinizing everything about this new face. Ainsley didn’t mind their prying eyes and in fact she let them pass all the judgments they wished. She wasn’t here to impress them or anybody for that matter. But by the looks she was receiving from a few males, it seemed she had done something right. Or perhaps they were just interested in who she was, after all, she was new in town. People in Miami were curious like that, they wanted to know what was going on with everybody. It seemed to be an impossible task especially seeing as how populated the city was. But a few still managed to figure everything out and then let everybody else know. Plus, with celebrities strutting around, drama was bound to happen and catch the attention of everybody. Almost every town and city were the same. The brunette’s attention was severed between the skeptical females and the seemingly admiring males. Ainsley wasn’t out to seek any attention actually, but she didn’t exactly mind being noticed. Already she had done what she set out to do, minus the whole smiling and socializing part, but the party was just beginning. So she quietly sipped on her drink and let her eyes wander out to the rolling ocean. Even between the laughter and music she could still hear the dull roar of the waves. The salted breeze raked gently through her hair, caressing her curves, and causing her dress to ripple ever so slightly.
A few people converged around the bar and began placing their orders. A thin blonde stalked by, giving a shimmering smile to the men who were lingering about. But her eyes seemed to hold steady on one in particular, but Ainsley soon found herself taking a few more sips of the alcohol. She didn’t have the attention to span to observe a single person’s behavior, there was far too much going on. By the looks of it, a few people were already a bit intoxicated - their speech slurred and eyes glassy. Tonight would be thoroughly amusing and hopefully worth the isolation she was currently experiencing whilst standing on a crowded beach. Well, crowded in this particular marked off section. The rest of the shoreline was barren and virtually abandoned. If she needed to sneak away then she had a vast expanse to choose from. The young girl was bumped slightly as a pair of rowdy men shoved by her, exiting the bar. Their voices carried loudly and instinctively Ainsley shied away from the pressure they had exerted into her back. Her eyebrows furrowed and her dark eyes shot them a displeased glare as they continued mindlessly on their way.
Her lungs swelled just before she exhaled, her fingers tapping the glass of her drink. Maybe she was more invisible than she had originally thought. The slender figure shifted slightly as another large, muscular man approached and ordered his drink. She didn’t allow her eyes to observe him, but instead they scanned the crowd. Still nobody familiar. She pushed the glass back to her lips before ingesting the remainder of the liquor. Her eyes clenched shut as she shook her, her arm extending out to place the glass on the bar. Her mocha eyes slowly revealed the scenery to her once more and she felt as though she was being watched. Her espresso eyes traced up the figure of the man beside her before connecting with a of sapphire eyes. Reflex told her to look away, but she found herself unable to tear herself from the gaze. It seemed like an eternity before she shot her eyes to the ground, almost embarrassed. The guy must thing she was a weirdo, but then again he had been looking back. Ainsley’s fingers played at the end of her dress, rubbing the fabric as a means to distract herself. But her efforts were in vain and thusly unnecessary as a symphony of baritones flooded her hearing.
”Hi…name’s Aaron, nice to meet you.” the voice of the man beside her was smooth and intriguing. The brunette raised her eyes to again anchor upon his, a small smile growing upon her lips. She could feel her cheeks warm slightly as she blushed ever so slightly. Really? Was she blushing? No, that couldn’t be happening, she never blushed. Her mouth parted as she adjusted herself to face him, but she was sort of at a loss for words. Maybe she should start with her name as well. ”I’m Ainsley, it’s nice to meet you too.” She gave a nervous laugh now that had fully realized just how attractive the man was. He looked older than she, but not by much. She tucked her hair behind her eyes before resting one gently upon her hip. Her smile grew a bit wider as she attempted to look back at his eyes, but they sheepishly flickered away. ”I’m new around here, so it’s good to meet somebody.” her voice finally was audible once more as she looked back to his face. He was surprisingly more intimidating than anybody else here and she wasn’t quite sure why. He had a daunting, threatening build [which she wasn’t going to complain about, ever] and his icy blue eyes seemed to look straight through her. He was unique in that sense, everybody here seemed superficial, but Aaron held something more real and intriguing.

Aaron thought as he smiled at her. He wouldn’t really say nice name, it sounded a bit corny to him. Most people just said that anyway half of the time, even if the name was pretty ridiculous. It was a really polite thing to do, but Aaron always said this thing; ‘if you don’t like it, then don’t say anything at all’ this little motto of his kept him out of trouble. Not that there would be any reason for Aaron to be in trouble anyway. He was practically the nicest guy that anyone would ever meet. It was really weird how kind he was for a hot guy. Metaphorically Aaron shook his head to stop thinking about the other crazy things inside his head, he was trying to just focus on Ainsley but it wasn’t happening. ”You’re new, well welcome to Miami then.” his smile broadened as he finally spoke again to her. Sometimes inside it was like Aaron got really nervous around a girl that was how he was when he first met Ashlee. Ashlee was new to Miami as well; funny how all the pretty girls he meets are new. Well, Aaron didn’t really think she would even talk to him at first. Ashlee was one of those really beautiful girls; the ones that would make every boy go weak at the knees. At first she didn’t really speak to him, maybe it was one of those tactics use to get the guy to notice then; so she really made Aaron notice her, a lot. Sometimes he would spend everyday thinking about her. It was like he was getting obsessed with her, not in a strange way though. It was time to move on now, Aaron had enough of blaming himself for what happened to Ashlee, he needed someone to love and to spend the rest of his life with. Whoever it was going to be, well Aaron was going to be a very lucky guy. His attention was back onto Ainsley for a brief moment he couldn’t take his eyes away from her. It was pretty weird, and well he may have looked like he was staring. His head turned quickly as he looked down at the bar. Sometimes he really embarrassed himself. He acted like a fool in front of his closest friends but that was just the way he was. Aaron wasn’t a shy person or anything, but he liked to get to know someone before he showed the true Aaron. Holding his drink in his had, Aaron raised it towards his lips and took a large sip before finishing it all. His head jerked up and he gave the bartender a look, a look saying that he needed some more to drink. The guy behind the bar nodded at Aaron and went to get his alcohol. His head returned to Ainsley and slowly his mouth opened, ”How are you liking it here?” he quizzed the girl, while his left hand played around with the beads on one of the bracelets on his right arm. In her high school days, we just hadn’t left terribly long ago, Ainsley had been one of the more well known students. She tended to get a long with everybody and was involved on the varsity soccer team. She even had a serious relationship and everything went well, she was an honor student with a great group of friends. Things had shifted dramatically after her mother’s murder and from then on everybody treated her as though she had the plague. She couldn’t even pay her friends to answer her phone calls and everybody would avoid her at all costs. And her boyfriend of two years cheated on her with somebody on the soccer team. Needless to say, her heart was shattered and she hadn’t even looked at another boy since. She hid herself in her school work and tried desperately to regain her father’s attention and affection. But he had masterfully dumped her on her grandparents and took off without a trace. A few years later, she followed her older brothers to Miami. They seemed to be enjoying life away from Chicago and she definitely needed the change of scenery. The ‘Windy City’ held far too much pain for her to ever consider going back. Miami’s warm touch was doing enough for her in the sense that Ainsley now found herself talking to some strange man. She would never do this back home, she was still far too fragile from her relationship history and everything else. But here, there was a slight change in confidence. Aaron didn’t know her story and so he had nothing to judge her on, with the exception of looks alone. And well, Ainsley didn’t think she was gorgeous, but she knew she wasn’t exactly revolting either. So maybe this was playing in her favor.
As her dark eyes lingered back to Aaron she was able to sense a distraction his part. He looked as though he was in deep thought or remembering something. Maybe he was searching for an excuse to leave her there. No, she shouldn’t be thinking like that. She needed to exude the confidence that had once made her so noticeable. Despite the man having his head in the clouds, she still allowed a small smile to remain perched upon her coral lips. Her lashes fluttered over her honey eyes as she let her vision traces the shoreline before slowly working back through the crowd. More people were beginning to shove passed to get to the bar, things were beginning to pick and people were hitting the dance floor. She mused over a few people and their dancing skills for a little bit before Aaron’s voice brought her back to reality. ”You’re new, well welcome to Miami then.” She took a quick glance to him, nodding, smirking some. ”Thanks.” she was unsure of what else to sat and that seemed to be the only fitting response. Besides, a few people parted the pair in an attempt to get the attention of the bartender.
While they were separated by a few people Ainsley took the opportunity to run her eyes up down his figure, as discreetly as possible. It was only natural for her to do, the law of attraction stated it. She couldn’t find any reason to complain and instantly her interest piqued. She couldn’t quite tell if he was going to take this opportunity to go on in his own direction, but Ainsley was firmly planted where she was. She was the never type to pay too much attention to a guy, she usually shrugged them off. So why was this any different? She couldn’t quite figure that out. The people soon fled and again the space between Aaron and Ainsley was empty. Her posture relaxed and she put on hand up onto the bar, but she didn’t have any intention of ordering a drink. At least not yet. ”How are you liking it here?” she heard the newly recognizable voice and her eyes darted to him. She was strangely pleased that he had decided to stick around. Biting upon her bottom lip gently, she rolled his question over in her head before responding. ”I actually really like it. It’s a lot better than Chicago.” She was being completely honest. There wasn’t a single thing she missed about that city. One hand went to adjust her dress, which was strapless, a natural instinct for most girls who wore one. Ainsley kept finding her gaze landing upon Aaron’s brilliantly blue eye. There was something about them that she just couldn’t pinpoint, but she liked it. A few guys strode by and called out to Ainsley. She gave them a friendly smile before shifting slightly to make her angle to them a little more closed off. She wasn’t a big fan of receiving attention from drunken ‘rich boys’, it just wasn’t her style. But it wasn’t in her to be rude and completely destroy their self-esteem, although sometimes she thought she would. Without looking back to Aaron, she ordered herself another drink before speaking once more, ”Are you from here?” It was the typical question to ask, but she supposed it was appropriate for when you first meet someone. Small talk is always first, unless you’re the person who dives in head first. word count; 880. status; complete. comments; :]

Laughing Aaron took a hold of his drink and took another large sip - feeling the cold drink slide down his throat. ”Well I guess if you’ve lived here all your life, Miami does get a bit boring” Aaron continued with a deep smile on his lips. That was true though, for someone who has lived in one place for all their life, it would get a bit less exciting each day. For someone to be new in a place like Miami it would definitely seem like the best place ever. When Ashlee has first come to Miami, she had thought the same about Miami - the fact that it was the most amazing place ever. Aaron didn’t meet her straight away when she arrived, it must have been a week or two later. Of course the popular kids of the school don’t usually take a liking to the new kids. Was it because they may have been the new competition? Who knows really? It was in his math class that Aaron had first saw Ashlee. It may sound a bit soppy, but Aaron thought it was like love at first sight. What did he know though; he was still a kid after all. After their meeting in that class Aaron got talking to Ashlee and that was it they hit it off as friends. From friends they were obviously going to end up something more. She was really different from the rest of the girls in the school, Ashlee wasn’t vain or snobby. The fact that she didn’t care how she looked really attracted Aaron. Although every time he saw her, she was looking better than the next day. There were days that she would change completely, little did he know, it was the drugs. ”Yep, lived here all my life. How cool am I ?” Aaron joked as he fiddled around with the glass in between his two hands. He had only been talking to this girl for a few minutes now, and already Aaron liked this girl. Not love or anything like that. That was way too soon to even be thinking about that. He didn’t know much about her, if Aaron got to know her then maybe who knows what could happen. Ainsley seemed like a nice enough girl to hang around with. Not to mention that she was pretty attractive. There were lots of things about her that Aaron loved. She had all the curves in the right places. Of course, the fact that Ainsley was really pretty as well, and there was more to her other than her being hot. Somehow Aaron could tell that was something else. She might have been hiding something; like him. Everyone had their problems and secrets, so Aaron just pushed his thoughts to the back of his head. Watching the drunk rich kids going by and calling on her, Aaron rose his eyebrow as his eyes followed the crowd of boys. Now, these were the kind of people that really pissed him off. They walked around like they owned the place, just because their ‘daddies’ have tonnes of money the kids think that they can do whatever they want. Aaron just frowned slightly before he turned to look at Ainsley again; maybe they should have gone somewhere quieter to sit - after all the bar was getting pretty busy as well now. Opening his mouth slightly Aaron spoke again, ”Do you want to go over there, and have some peace and quiet?” he gestured his hand towards the other side of the beach. There were a few people scattered around near there, but it was better than standing here and getting bumped into by the odd drunk people. Aaron waited to see what Ainsley would say. If she said no, then Aaron would understand why, not may people would agree to go with someone they had just met. The differences between Chicago and Miami were vast. For starters, Miami was warm, had beaches, and plenty of sun. Chicago was cold, windy, and maybe you went to a pool or took a drive out to the great lakes. People here in Miami were stereotypical, but nobody had done much to Ainsley to get her to be unhappy with them. Sure, at the party people were stumbling around like idiots and making comments as they passed her. But that was true at any party anywhere. She had come to accept this fact about being within the ‘party scene’. But finally she had a very good distraction, a person who wasn’t stumbling and wasn’t trying too hard. Aaron had the perfect balance of being friendly and vague at the same time. He had some mysterious veil around him, like he had some secret he was hiding from the world. Or some burden that was waiting to be lifted from his shoulders. The only reason Ainsley could tell was because she was also hiding a secret, dealing with a similar burden. She wasn’t over his mother’s murder and she certainly wasn’t over her father abandoning her. For year now she had been reaching out for a man’s love, just because she had been deprived. But now she had all but given up. Aaron seemed to be a breath of fresh air, and from his comment it seemed as if he had been living here his whole life. So maybe it was boring in Miami when you were around long enough. But it was they way with any city if you were around long enough
As the men who called out to Ainsley meandered by, the brunette caught Aaron’s stare as he watched them. She small smile twirled her lips as she watched on, amused. Her gazed was soon dragged to the men as they passed, one of them holding a harder, more meaningful stare than the other. Instantly she found herself feeling uneasy, there was something about that man she didn’t quite like. He wasn’t much older than she, early twenties. His blonde hair was shaggy and the fringes hung slightly in front of his eyes. Ainsley felt her heart speed up a little as she met his eyes with her own. Her eyebrows dropped and her eyes tightened as she scowled back at him. Something caught the man’s attention as he quickly glances to Aaron and instantly his look became one of slight anger, but he quickly marched off. Ainsley knew him from somewhere, she had seen him before, but she couldn’t recall any details at the moment. She hadn’t noticed, but her breathing rate had increased and she felt a sense of fear until she returned her attention to Aaron. She did her best to mask whatever it was that had just happened, but he seemed to be blowing it off, or maybe he didn’t even realize what had just gone on in those brief moments.
”Yep, lived here my whole life. How cool am I?” thank goodness his comment had slightly lightened the mood. She let out a small laugh, looking back up to him. He was a good deal taller then she was and she liked that. He was intimidating, in a good way. The type of guy that she felt safe around, instead of feeling like she could be harmed. ”Yeah, Chicago lost it’s flavor after awhile. I so can imagine it’s the same for you here.” The little brunette couldn’t quite understand how it could get old. People were constantly moving in and out, there was an endless supply of beautiful people. Just looking around, there wasn’t an unattractive person to be found. Still somehow, Aaron was the only guy to have caught her eye and she hadn’t even made the approach to him. Maybe this night would be better than she had thought. The music was beginning to pick up even more and the sun was close to disappearing beyond the horizon. The sky was painted in brilliant pastels that reflecting off the tossing waves. A picturesque evening.
’Do you want to go over there and have some peace and quiet?” his baritones rattled Ainsley back to life. She took a quick glance to the area he was gesture to. An open stretch of beach with only a few people lingering on it’s sands. Perfect. Maybe now they wouldn’t be disrupted by the constant looks and comments of those around them. Her warm eyes brightened as she let them run over Aaron’s face. ’Yes, that sounds great.” she sounded relieved to get away from the growing crowd as it began to descend upon the bar. The night hours were upon them so that meant more people would start acting foolish and getting rowdy. Taking initiative, Ainsley started off to the location appointed by Aaron. She walked a few yards before turning her head to look back at him. She stood still, keeping her eyes on him until he decided to follow. She wasn’t quite sure if he would come along, maybe he had only asked to be nice. And if that were the case the she would feel like a fool. For the first time in years she was letting herself go someplace, generally alone, with a man. Maybe it wasn’t a big deal to Aaron, but it was for Ainsley.

His eyebrows turned into a frown once he finished his simple question. There was just something about that guy that had made Ainsley look a bit tense. The look that had been on her face worried Aaron, he had only known her for a few minutes now, but he still felt responsible for her, for some reason. He felt that he had to protect her from something, something that he didn’t know. Whatever it was, Aaron just had to do it. Waiting for Ainsley to answer Aaron decided that he didn’t mind if she didn’t want to answer his question. If she did know him, then why would it have been Aaron’s business to know anyway? Taking a deep breathe Aaron took in his surroundings. He noticed that there were hardly any people here. They were all moving towards the life of the party now, but Aaron didn’t give a damn. He was happy sitting here with Ainsley and just talking. Using his right hand Aaron dug up some sand and put it back down again, he did this a couple of times before he got sick of it. His blue eyes gradually moved to look at Ainsley now; they rested on her eyes and then moved to her lips. To Aaron her lips looked really soft, and he always associated that to someone who was a good kisser. His mind stopped for a second, he was already thinking about kissing this girl. Aaron shook himself mentally and looked down to the sand again, trying to avoid eye contact with Ainsley. He really didn’t want her to find out about what had been thinking. When Aaron was younger he always had the thought that girls could read boys minds. It was weird, but that’s what he thought. At one point when he was ten years old he actually thought the girl that he liked could read his mind. He freaked out at first, but then realised that his best mate had told her that Aaron liked her – so much for the mind reading aspect. He did learn a lesson that day though – to never trust his mate again. He swore him to secrecy but then he goes and tells her that Aaron loves her. What a great friend? ”You know I actually thought you were going to say no, to coming over here” laughed Aaron as he spoke after their few seconds of silence. There had never been a girl that Aaron has just told them what he is feeling. Not even Ashlee. Aaron wasn’t the kind of guy who would just open up his heart and speak what he felt. He was more likely to hide what he felt and just keep it inside. His mum always used to say to him that, ‘that wasn’t healthy at all. Speaking out about your issues is the only way to get rid of them.’ Aaron didn’t believe that though, because when it did speak about his problems it just made him feel worse. It was unusual for Ainsley to go off into a secluded area with a guy she had just met. But for some reason she felt perfectly at ease with Aaron. Well, except for that pesky butterfly fluttering within her stomach. She wasn’t even sure why it was there. Maybe just the adrenaline shot from a talking to a guy after it had been so long. Plus, she was in a new area and didn’t know what to make of the whole situation. Nonetheless she had decided to take him up on his offer and even initiated the walk over to a quieter portion of the beach. People were sparse here, the rest began to filter to the bar and around the DJ. The waves now became a majority of the background noise as they tumbled harshly to the smooth, sanded surface. The white foam spraying before the liquid was again sucked back out to sea. Then the process repeated. It was better over here, away from the crowd and away from the blonde who had stared down Ainsley just moments before. She knew him, but she couldn’t remember from where. Obviously there was animosity between the two, but she couldn’t recollect what it was. She was hoping Aaron wouldn’t have noticed, she had tried hard to conceal her efforts to remain calm. She walked noiseless beside Aaron, he towered over her, but it was a cute contrast. Ainsley navigated the soft walking surface with expertise until the large man decided he was content where he was. They were just far enough away that the party was a low mumble, but they could still see all the goings on.
The brunette skillfully folded her legs and sat down, without disrupting the flow of her short white dress. Ainsley sank into the sand, her toes digging into it as he gaze was cast out to the waves. ”Did you know that guy, that blonde one we saw earlier.” Her breath caught in her lungs as she registered Aaron’s question. He had noticed. She inhaled sharply, her eyes sinking to the sand just before her as she searched for some sort of response. What was she supposed to say? It’s not like she actually knew him, but she had seen him before. Any other details about what happened she had no idea. Her mouth parted as she began to let the words fall from her tongue, ”I’ve seen him before, maybe once or twice…” she trailed off, shrugging slightly. Her mocha eyes lifted to try and search his face for some sort of reaction, but he seemed to blow off the situation. She regulated her breathing and made herself a little more comfortable. The salted ocean breeze playing with her hair before dropping it back to her shoulders. She watched the subtleties of his facial movements, looking over his lips, eyes, and the motions of his eyebrows. She hadn’t even noticed that he was looking back, but once she did she anchored her eyes to sand. Ainsley felt as though she was in elementary school all over again with the shy glances and strange feeling in her stomach.
The slender girl shook her head gingerly, trying to rid herself of such absurd thoughts. She had just met the boy, but he was becoming more and more attractive each time she looked at him. Miami with all it’s beautiful people. It almost wasn’t fair for him to be in her presence, each time he looked at her just teased her into thinking something she shouldn’t. The two grew quiet for several moments and she took this time to stare out at the ocean. The sun dipping below the horizon and exposing an indigo night sky blanketed with silver specs. She had never seen the sky so clear. Each glistening diamond fascinated her and the moon was in a league all it’s own. The perfect crescent dominated the night sky with a platinum glow. Ainsley smirked as she continued to observe the heavens, picking out a few obvious constellations, but she had never seen them so vividly. Her eyes than wandered back down to the waves before dancing up the sand and eventually back to Aaron. She hadn’t even noticed a smile was firmly planted on her soft features, her fingers playing in the sand.
He also looked rather amused with the situation, surprised almost. He had hidden his face from her like had embarrassed himself, but Ainsley hadn’t even noticed him doing anything. She let out a small laugh still unable to pry her eyes from him. He likely thought she was some fool by now, but then he struck up conversation again. ”You know I actually thought you were going to say now, to coming over here.” It was cute, in a way, that he didn’t think she would accompany him into a more private location. But in actuality, she was thrilled to do so, but she would never make it seem that way. She was far too closed off to let him know that, at least at this point. ”Why wouldn’t I? It’s nicer over here.” Ainsley’s smile grew and she bashfully looked back to the sand, busying her fingers in particles.

He smiled thinking about what he had said just. Different, would she take offense to that? Well, Aaron had no idea if she would; some girls may have found that a horrible thing to be called – different – there wasn’t anything wrong with it though, right? ”And I mean different in a good way, not a horrible way just so you know…” he rambled quietly as he looked at Ainsley. Now he was beginning to sound really stupid now, kind of like a nervous girl – which was very insulting to Aaron. Looking away from Ainsley he watched a crowd of girls walking by them, all of which looked partially drunk. One was gripping onto her friends arm as she held her shoes in the other. The wind blew back the drunken girls hair as she laughed – a high pitched laugh – as loud as she could. It sounded really bad and well that’s what you get for being drunk. Not that Aaron had never, not been drunk; there were times when Aaron was super drunk. He would be falling all over the place and well holding onto his mates for help. But that’s expected of guys, right? His thoughts were back on the girls as they soon started to disappear behind Ainsley and Aaron. The girl who had been laughing was now crying, rolling his eyes Aaron looked over to Ainsley as the girl started wailing now. All her could hear was something about someone stealing her boyfriend. ”Oh please shut up” Aaron said quietly as he spoke to himself, it was loud enough for only Ainsley’s ears, so Aaron looked at her face and laughed. The mood between the two was calm and really quite relaxing – the way Aaron liked it – he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Carefully scooping the sand into the palm of his hand, it lay there quietly and softy. The light breeze blew it slightly and made some of the sand move away from his hands, and back onto the ground. The girls behind them had now moved on and started to moan somewhere else. It was really annoying when people did that, but it wasn’t really her fault. The poor girl’s boyfriend had just cheated on her. That was nothing new, most guys that were loved by every girl done that. Aaron was never like that when he was at high school. It was stupid and pathetic, especially when the guys didn’t bother to feel anything for the girls. Aaron was nice, even a bit too nice. Sometimes everyone needs to be a bit rude or crude – or whatever. How else was someone supposed to stand up for themselves? No one would really have guessed, but Aaron could definitely defend himself, so he was okay in that department. There had only been one time when he was involved in a fight, and funnily enough it was over Ashlee. It was something to do with the fact that this guy had tried to feel her up – or something along those lines. Aaron went crazy and didn’t even wait until his class finished, he just punched in during a biology class – the teacher wasn’t there, maybe he was just running late. If the teacher had been present, then maybe Aaron would have got the guy later. There would have been no chance of him getting away; Aaron was the kind of guy that liked to get revenge – not the crazy killer type of revenge. But the type that would mean no one would mess with any of your friends ever again. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/ul] [/ul] WORD COUNT: eight one seven . The indigo night sky was perfectly captivating and certainly grabbed Ainsley’s interest with each fade of hue and each flicker of the stars. Her mind was lulled into wandering and soon she found herself staring into the face of the blonde guy. She was now remembering where she had seen him. Her eyes squinted slightly as she was swept away in thought, remembering back a few weeks ago when she had hit up a party not too far from here. She had gone with her neighbors who found it to be there job to take her to her first party in Miami. The blonde was a apparently a friend of the neighbor’s and thought the best way to welcome Ainsley to the city was by trying to get into her pants. Most of it was a fog because she had been quite drunk that night, but she remember resisting him. He didn’t seem to enjoy that too much and fought with her for a little bit about it. It was then that the memory of her father abandoning her began to influence her decisions for that night. She had nearly given in to the blonde‘s, who she now remembered was named Quin, advancements. Well, she didn’t quite know if she gave in or if she became to weak to fight. She had been reaching for some sort of male figure in her life since her father had left and that night it was all getting to her. But just before Quin could really get what he wanted, Ainsley had a change of heart and tried to get away. Quin was obviously upset and intoxicated and tried to force the brunette into giving him what he wanted, but thankfully somebody came looking for Ainsley and found her just in time. Quin played the situation off, but it left Ainsley with a bit of anxiety. She had all but forgotten the event by the next morning. It was weird how things came back in bits and pieces, but she was now able to remember the situation.
A chill ran up her spine as she recalled the event, her shoulders trembling lightly before settling once more. There was some commotion behind the pair and instinctively her eyes darted to the scene. A group of heavily intoxicated girls causing a scene. There was shrill laughing and then only a few moments there was crying. Oh the joyous mood swings of liquor. Apparently the one had a cheating boyfriend. That brought back too many painful memories for Ainsley; her boyfriend throughout high school had cheated on her at the very end of their senior year, prom night no less. The brunette shook her head gently. Guys could be so awful, but then again girls could be too. The muttered whisper next to her caused a smile to spread across her lips. It seemed as though Aaron had enough their antics, but the girls were quick to move on. Again the pair was nearly alone on their barren stretch of beach, both of them seemed to be enjoying the silence that parted them. The baritones of the boy next to her caused Ainsley to feel more at ease. Her attention perked at the use of his word “different”. She didn’t take a offense to it, it was actually a compliment to her. She didn’t like to be like anybody else, especially not other girls. She was amused by his quick explanation that he didn’t mean it in a bad way. ”Hah, don’t worry I didn’t take it in a bad way.” she commented, her eyes dashing to his for a moment. ”You don’t seem like other guys, so I didn’t see the harm in spending some time with you.” it was true, he seemed different from the rest. It was refreshing to actually have a sense of trust, no matter how small, in somebody you just met. That was rare to find in today’s world.
Ainsley’s fingers continued to dig at the sand making an obvious dent. The wind ruffled her dress and raked through her silky brown hair before again disappearing. Silence again cloaked the two, but she didn’t mind. It was nice to sit next to somebody but not have to say a word. The tide was quite obviously rising as the water began to inch it’s way closer and closer to the sitting pair. The slim brunette was halfway tempted to just dive into the waters and let her worries wash away, or maybe that was the alcohol talking. Whatever it was, Ainsley was continuing to feel herself relax and she felt a series of laughs bubbling her stomach, but she had nothing to laugh at currently. The music in the distance caused her to sway a little bit with the beat, but nothing too noticeable. A white smile shone across her face as she looked eagerly to Aaron, ”So…?” she prompted, her voice enthusiastic and filling with life. He was quiet and she wanted to pick his brain, she wanted to know what he was thinking. She’d wait for it though, she’d have him talking before the night was over - she was sure of that.

Aaron mused while he looked over to Ainsley with a grin. He was glad that she thought of him as being different than other guys; Aaron didn’t want to be some stupid prick that always acted like he didn’t care. Most of his mates were like that, and it wasn’t like he blamed them for being like that. It was the opposite; his mates were his mates, so he liked them for who they were – even if they were practically manwhores. Jason was the worst though, he had a different girl every second day. It was funny for Aaron though, because he would have to try and remember what the girls name was. If he said the wrong name then well that would’ve been embarrassing on Jason. Although Aaron found it hilarious at times, a few weeks ago Jason had this blonde girl. She looked like a proper model and everything. This girl looked exactly like the last one, but this one was called Jenny; and the last one had been Lisa. Aaron being stupid he said to Jason, ’so this is the slutty one I see’ Jenny wasn’t supposed to hear that, but she was behind them when it was said. That was a few seconds before she stormed out and never saw Jason again. After that Aaron was in fits of laughter. Smiling his face turned towards the sand again, before peering over at Ainsley. She had the look on her face again; it was more like she was thinking deeply about something. Frowning softly to himself, Aaron wondered what she was thinking about. He had always been a pretty caring person, so he didn’t really like it when people were upset or anything like that. Maybe Aaron should just ask her now. To make his own mind at peace. It was just weird, he hadn’t known her for long, but Aaron wanted to be there for her. Sure it could have been nothing and she might just be thinking about things going on around here. ”Are you okay?” He asked. ”You seem a bit…preoccupied.” Aaron continued with a neutral look on his face. He was just hoping now that she didn’t think Aaron was trying to butt into her business. Of course he was nothing like that, and if she said she was just fine. Then maybe the questions would have stopped there, even if he didn’t want to. Or would Aaron keep on asking her until she gave in and told him what was wrong? Inside Aaron was hoping that Ainsley would speak to him, it seemed like they had been friends for ages. Although it has only been a few minutes now. Watching the sky now, Aaron waited to hear from Ainsley again. She was thinking about things, and well so was Aaron. They were both the same. So it seemed to Aaron anyway. He was the kind of person that liked to keep things to himself. A great secret keep actually. When he was younger he would know everyone’s secrets. He was just that great that people would come to him and tell Aaron everything. It was really quiet annoying but he wanted to know thing, a very nosey kid was what Aaron was though. He liked to know the whole gossip of the school, although he was never one to start any gossip. But that may have been a lie. There was a time when this guy in his year really annoyed him, and well Aaron wanted to get his own back on him. That was the reason for starting some stupid little rumour about the guy. Right now Aaron couldn’t really remember what it was that he said, but it was bad enough for the guy to go straight to Aaron to sort it out. With fists. Aaron was a pretty good fighter, so he had to problem with his guy coming to him. It made things easier for Aaron, he didn’t need to walk all the way to the boys ‘hang out’ to see him .This guy was really quiet mad and wanted to kick the crap out of Aaron. That didn’t bother him though. Aaron was ready for the guy, and well he took him on. As he stopped thinking about the little punch up, Aaron looked over and stared at Ainsley for a second or two. He just couldn’t stop thinking how beautiful she really was. It was strange to think that Ainsley had just met Aaron because it felt like she had known him for an eternity. Especially with the way he easily sense that something was distracting her. He was right to a point it almost scared her. Was it that obvious or was he just a good read of character? Whatever it was confirmed her feeling of contentment and ease around him, like they had been friends for a long time now. ”Are you okay?” she repeated his question over again in her head. Her dark eyes flickered to him, catching his face in the platinum glow of the moon. She gave him a small smile before it faded, chewing on her bottom lip quite anxiously. She wasn’t sure if she should tell, but she felt she could - that was the deciding factor. Her eyes took a quick glance over her shoulder to the party as if she were trying to fish out Quin’s face before telling the story to Aaron. Even just thinking about what happened caused her heart to rush a little and breathing grew just slightly faster. When she didn’t see his bright eyes or hair she felt as ease to begin, but where would she start. She turned to face Aaron, her breath catching in her chest as she caught his crystal blue eyes in hers. She let out a heavy sigh, ”That guy, the blonde, we saw earlier? Yeah, I know him.” she made it simple at first to ensure Aaron followed easily because if she got too sloppy with her words then it could get complicated. ”I met him at a party a few weeks ago. Some stuff happened and it just didn’t end well.”
The brunette was slightly hesitant to detail the story, but for some reason she felt she owed Aaron the whole story. Her eyes wandered out to the ocean as she gathered the words to say. ”I was drunk and he was too. I-I wasn’t thinking straight and he knew it, so he led me to some secluded room somewhere. I can’t remember everything.” she took a moment to pause, her eyebrows furrowing as she thought back to that night. ”He kept trying to get my shorts off and I told him no, but he wouldn’t listen. So I pushed him and he shoved me up against the wall, pinning me there.” Her eyes held a fog that showed her intense focus on the past, it was all she could imagine at the moment. ”I kept trying to fight him off, but he was so strong and I just couldn’t get him off of me. But my neighbor came looking for me and walked in on us. So of course he stopped and played it off like it was a mutual thing.” She shrugged, her head shaking lightly as she looked back to watch Aaron’s expression. ”That’s what I remember, but obviously he remembered too.” Her voice was abnormally placid for talking about such an event. She faked a smile as if she brushing off the situation, but she was still shaken from the ordeal each time she thought about it. She forced everything to the back of her mind and instead chose to focus on the man beside her. He seemed a little troubled himself, although she couldn’t put her finger on what was bothering him.
She nudged him a little with her elbow, ”Are you sure you’re okay?” she returned his same question, he always seemed to halfheartedly giving her his attention. As if he was thinking of somebody else or wishing that other person was here with him instead Ainsley. She didn’t mind if he did, everybody felt like that sometimes. She held the ends of her dress down with her hands, the wind was picking up and threatening to her dress a little to high into the air. She didn’t mind that a majority of her legs were exposed, but ensured that dress wouldn’t pass mid-thigh. She stood out in the dark in her short white dress as it blew in the ocean breeze, her hair following the same action.
She was a little surprised at herself for sharing the information, but Aaron had somehow made her feel comfortable enough to open up about it. In fact, she hadn’t told anybody about what happened with Quin and she didn’t have any intentions of letting anybody else know. But she was no longer concerned about herself. No, now she was worried about Aaron. Maybe it was nothing at all and she was reading entirely too far into it, but she was still curious. She didn’t like letting people feel upset or alone about something when there was the possibility she could help in some manner. She wanted to make him smile, to make him laugh, to make him forget whatever it was he just couldn’t get over. She might not be able to do that tonight, but she would do it someday. She’d make it her personal goal in life - to make him happy and keep him happy, whatever that meant. He seemed like a genuinely great guy and there weren’t many of those left, so she was going to make sure he got what deserved out of life. At least she’d like to make sure of that.
